Got back from 5 long days in Vegas yesterday. Went out there to play for the Dream Team Poker Tournament at the Rio. Had originally thought it was a bracelet event because that’s how it was sort of being advertized, but that didn’t end up being the case.
The last Dream Team event was held at Ceasars Palace in March. That had alot of celebrities and Pro’s at it. Was well run, and alot of fun. This one however only had the 1 celebrity I brought (Jose Canseco) and only a handful of pro’s. My teammate Jerry Yang being the most recognizeable.
They cut corners this time around by skipping 3 levels of blinds early on. So it became a crap shoot from the get go. I should’ve been the first one out, because my 2nd hand, i flopped 2 pair, against someones flush. Was crippled early on. Fought my way back to over 8000 in chips, when again, i flopped 2 pair, and the run would give the other guy a flush. Would have less than 3000 in chips, and slowly build my stack up again to finally wake up with AQ suited on the button against another AQ and an AK short stack, with the case Ace coming out on the flop, which also gave me a flush draw. The only good thing about this particular hand, was that Jose Canseco was at the table next to me, and he would be all in with 10’s against Jacks. He and I had 100 dollar last longer. So before I would eventually call with my AQ against the short stacks all in, i waited for the results of what happened with Canseco. The rest of the table didn’t seem to mind the unnecessary delay in my call. When Jose walked over and gave me 100 bucks, i went ahead and called to find out I was outkicked. And would then go on to get chipped and anted down.
My girlfriends team (Biatches) was in a position to do really good. They had all built their chip stack to over 20K, one of them actually had the tourneys chip lead at 45K for a while. But they wouldn’t last too long. My Girl falling out first, with her friend Claudia going next, and then eventually the last of the Biatches, AJ, who was the only guy on the squad, finding that it’s extreamly difficult to bluff someone off of quad Kings.
Of the 3 teams that I had brought there, Jerry Yang lasted the longest, eventually just finding himself facing pocket Aces again and again and eventually getting eliminated in 94 place out of 366.
My sponsor Shane from OnTilt was happy with the publicity we got and the feedback the other pro’s were giving us in regards to our OnTilt Clothing. I’m happy to be apart of this great gear, and honored to represent them for all my future tournaments.
After the Tourney, i went and metup with my friend Lisa Parsons to wish her a happy B-day. She was pretty bummed about her run at the WSOP this year, even though she should’ve been pretty proud of herself for how she played. She was able to free roll throughout the entire wsop with her victory at the 40k satelite. Instead of playing the 40k tourney, she used those satelite chips to fund her way through all the little tourneys, and the main event. She did final table at the Womens event, taking a major suckout to a horrible call and lucky runner runner by her clueless opponent.
I basically just reminded her that she played great, and even though the results sucked, she made the right choices when they counted.
