In a poker world where most of the champions are always in television talking about everything except poker, it’s very good to find a player like Seed, who only likes to sit at the tables, play poker and let his results talk for itself. It easy to find Daniel Negreanu or Phil Hellmuth arguing about their habits and their favorite meals, but it’s not easy find a player like Huckelberry Seed.

A million can change your  life

Huck was born in Montana and before to become a great poker player he has planned his life to become a electrical engineer. His natural math skills were put to test at the California Institute of Technology. But as many other poker pros that kind of life didn’t suit him perfectly and he left the academic studies to dedicate his life to another profession, which is poker player.
He started to join the World Series of Poker in 1990 for the first time, and he ended in 4th position at the Limit Hold’em event and also in the Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo tournament. He realized that this path could be his new way of life, and tournament after tournament and winning after winning he became aware of his skills.
This new career was many times more lucrative that the one as electrical engineer obviously and he has understood that his choice was right.
During the 1994 WSOP he won his first bracelet playing in Pot-Limit Omaha earning about $240,000. If the 1995 WSOP Main Event was a really disappointment, the next year in 1996 he got $1 million defeating in the heads up Bruce Van Horn.
One of the most important hands of the game was when Van Horn raised with K.8 Pre Flop, Huck called with 8-9 suited (diamonds), the board was 9-8-4 and Seed bet, Van Horn raised and Huck Seed pushed all-in. The fourth card was an Ace, so Van Horn added the flush draw to his possible outs, but the River didn’t save him and Seed won his first Million, writing his name in the history of poker,
In 90s poker has not the popularity of our times, and winning 1 million dollars was an incredible issue. Seed talked about poker players, saying that they as gamblers trying to became famous, making a name for themselves.
