Ziigmunds Personal Life

Ilari Sahamies was born in 1983 in Helsinki, Finland.  He would spend a lot of time playing billiards and won two Finnish Junior Championships.  It was at the pool halls where he would meet Patrik Antonius and be introduced to poker.  The two got started playing poker at Patrik’s house and they would both go on to become the best players in the world.

Once he was 18, he would start playing poker often at Grand Casino Helsinki.  Within two years he turned pro.

Professional Life of Ilari Sahamies

Ziigmund first discovered online poker in 2002 when he played the small stakes games.  He would jump up to higher stakes without having a bankroll to support the move because he believed that he belonged with the big boys.  He would go broke on numerous occasions due to poor bankroll management.

In 2007, he would finally get where he wanted to be.  He was playing the high stakes games on Full Tilt Poker.  He showed little regard for the established order or the big names of the day, challenging any players and talking trash on a whim.

His aggressive play, huge swings and reckless disregard made him a fan favorite online.  He will easily win and lose a million dollars in a single day.  He admits to not practicing game selection and is willing to play anyone at anytime.  This means that he is often up against the best in the business.

He also admits that he is a No Limit Hold’em fish.  His results online confirm his statement.  He is down about $2.5 million in Texas Hold’em.

His Pot Limit Omaha winnings have more than made up for his losses and overall he is currently up over $4 million online.
