The Great Dane Gus Hansen has capped of an amazing 2010 after winning the winner-takes-all Poker Million IX final.

Those using the betfair poker sign up bonus note that it was never going to be easy as Hansen squared of against Patrik Antonius, Howard Lederer, Barny Boatman, James Bord, Tony Bloom, Gary Peniket and Seth Webber hoping to win $1 million in prize money.

The Poker Million was first televised in November 2000 and its previous nine other poker millionaires have been John Duthie, Jimmy White, Donnacha O’Dea, Tony Jones, Rajesh Modha, Joe Beevers, Marty Smyth and James Akenhead.

Gus Hansen became the ninth person to win the trophy and the $1 million in prize money after defeating Tony “The Lizard” Bloom heads up after calling Bloom’s all-in with A8o – Bloom had moved in with A6o. Incredibly this was Bloom’s 3rd Poker Million final table. It was a great call by Hansen and it summed up his performance as he played fantastically well throughout the entire day. He was the chip leader very early on in the tournament when he doubled up against WSOPE Main Event Champion James Bord after his AQ held up against AJ. Hansen then proceeded to end the Poker Million hopes of Howard Lederer, online qualifier Seth Webber and Barny Boatman before finally disposing of The Lizard.

Those using the betfair promo codes note that Hansen also won his first WSOP bracelet when he defeated Jim Collopy in the final of the £10,350 No Limit Hold Em High Roller Heads-Up event at the WSOPE this Summer.

“There are a lot of great players in this tournament and its always great to get your hand on a trophy. I had a little drought in tournaments, but the last couple of months have been very good.” He said after his win.

I was just thinking about what my dream poker table would be. Who would I want sitting my my right and left. Would I want an easy table or a table full of icons. So after a good bit of thought, I decided I would rather lose money and have a great experience. Rather than sitting at a table of fish, where I would clean up.

So I start with the player directly to my left.

Seat number 1. Doyle Brunson. I thought about it and I don’t think you can have a dream poker table without Doyle. So I’ve also decide to give Doyle position on me, hoping as he’s old school, he isn’t as aggressive as some other players. Doyle Brunson has always been an Idol of mine. So it’s only fair he gets to sit next to me.

Next to Doyle. Phil Hellmuth. Phil goes on so much about him being the best player in the world. So I would love to prove him wrong by constantly stealing his blinds from the button. Plus, Phil would bring some entertainment to the table. I would have great fun winding him up.

Seat number 3. Gus Hansen. I have always been a massive fan of Gus Hansen. Gus was the reason I started playing poker. I should correct that. Gus is the reason I lost alot of money when I started playing poker. I used to watch Gus and thought if I was as aggressive as him, I would have no problems cleaning up at any table. I was wrong. So I feel I have bone to pick with him. Plus I would love to see the best loose aggressive player in action.

Now to seat number 4. Phil Ivey. Currently, in my opinion, Ivey is the best playing in the world. That’s been confirmed by him final tabling the WSOP main event, winning 2 bracelets and cashing 5 times in this years WSOP. So Ivey has to be at the table, and I also need position on him or I’m sure I won’t be there long.

So to my right. Seat number 5. Daniel Negreanu. I have always been a fan of the small pot poker strategy and Daniel is the best small pot poker player in the world. I would love to study him and try and learn from the master. Plus I hear he is a really nice guy. Hopefully that will make up for Phil Hellmuth being at the table.

And finally. Seat number 6. Gerry Poltorak. me. I am 100% sure I would get cleaned out. But boy would I enjoy the experience. With the highlight being pissing Phil Hellmuth off raising his big blind and then sucking out on him. Then listen for the infamous Hellmuth rant.
