Big hands

Published on December 10, 2010 by kkroz   ·   No Comments

These are the well known ‘premium hands’, every player dreams to receive those kind of hands. When you lift your cards and the first is a K and the second one is also a King, your spirit is fill of happiness, but your face has to stay flat and calm like nothing has just happened. This is the most difficult part of poker.

Premium hands: JJ or higher

The premium hands have a lot a value before Flop and after it, a good tip is always bet pre-flop also with this huge hands, because you don’t want to go to a multi player Flop, maybe with 4 or more players. You have to get the most out of this big hands and is better that everybody folds then someone with random hand calls and hit something strange at the Flop, trust me.

Think about KK, if no Ace appear on the Flop you probably got the best hand and you are not scared for sure, but take a look at this situation. Two hearts on the board and you are already thinking about the Flush, so you have to bet, but if you are playing with aggressive players, they can move all-in also with only a Flush draw. What do you have to do? It’s up to you, probably you got the best hand, but a Flush draw has a lot of outs. It’s difficult to fold KK, almost impossible. Let’s gambling and see what’s going on, if someone hits the Flush on the River, you could say “That’s poker, baby”. This is a usual situation when you start with big pairs, having the best hand but knowing that there are plenty of outs for your opponent, it’s only a matter of courage and luck. Poker is always a matter of luck, percentage and a bit of craziness. These are the situations that can teach you how to act pre-Flop and post-Flop. Remember, it’s always better raise pre Flop and if someone follow your raise, you are sure that he has a decent hand too. Obviously you can always face: strange behaviours, donkey players, random players and lucky players, but this is poker and no matter how much you know about it, there is always something new, weird and incomprehensible.
