There are plenty of error you can do at the table and most of these are beginner mistakes. How many times have you tried to make a continuation bet after the flop with your draws (four to a flush or straight), and missing your draws you checked on the turn in order to see the last card?

I guess a lot of times, especially if you are not very comfortable with poker strategy, but this is not a good idea because if check on the Turn and you have a good opponent, he basically bets a good amount understanding that you have nothing in your hands. This is a pretty common error, if we want to call it like this, if you are ready to make a semi-bluff, you need to push until the River and maybe over the River. The real ability of a good player is to understand when the time to stop comes. It’s not easy. but it’s the difference between an amateur and a decent player. If you check you show your weakness, checking is a good way to hide a good hand, not a good way to get a free card, if you play against decent players obviously. If you are in position and you bet after the Flop, but someone calls you and then you check the 4th card, you’re commonly telling the other player which is the power of your hand and this is one of the worst thing to do at a poker table. in fact if you had a big pair at the Flop you’d better bet to protect that after the Turn, if you check your opponent has the 99% sure that you were searching for draws or you were trying to steal. In this case you normally lose the pot 4 times on 5 if you play against good players. If you choose to play passive, you need a bit of luck and you also need to find a tight player on the other side of the table, otherwise against a loose aggressive player you will be forced to fold your cards.
